The Cursor 8 is a 6-cylinder, 4-stroke diesel engine with a bore of 115 mm and a stroke of 125 mm. It offers several power ratings, including 270 hp, 310 hp, and up to 350–360 hp, with torque ranging from 1,115 Nm up to 1,500 Nm. Torque is delivered strongly from low revs, beginning around 1,100 rpm, and maintained across a wide band for easier drivability.
The engine uses variable-geometry turbocharging (VGT) with an intercooler, ensuring smooth and responsive power delivery. Fuel injection is managed electronically through high-pressure systems, with later versions adopting common rail technology for even greater efficiency.
Depending on the model and application, the Cursor 8 complies with Euro 3 through Euro 6 emission standards, using SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) systems and optional EEV filters.
